Can PE stretch film be used as cling film?

In fact, cling film is a kind of stretch film, but since it does not need as high self-adhesive properties as stretch film, the amount of polyisobutylene used will be less.

Cling film is a commonly used plastic packaging product for fresh-keeping food. At present, the cling film on the market mainly includes: the first is polyethylene, which is mainly used for food packaging, such as fruits, vegetables, etc., including in supermarkets. The semi-finished products purchased are all made of this material; the second is polyvinyl chloride, which can also be used for food packaging; the third is polyvinylidene chloride, which is mainly used for the packaging of some cooked foods.

Stretch film is the first in China to use PVC as the base material, DOA as the plasticizer and self-adhesive effect to produce PVC stretch film. Due to environmental problems, high cost , poor stretchability and other reasons, when the domestic production of PE stretch film began in 1994 to 1995, it was gradually eliminated.

Since PE stretch film belongs to industrial grade and cling film belongs to food grade, it is absolutely unscientific to use PE stretch film as cling film. And from the price point of view, the price of stretch  film is much more expensive than that of cling wrap. It is very uneconomical to use stretch film instead of cling film.
